This state-approved educator preparation program helps meet the teacher shortage needs of Galveston County schools by providing individuals with at least a Bachelor’s degree with a non-traditional, fast track route to Texas teacher certification. Alternative teacher certification training is intensive and comprehensive so new teacher candidates are prepared to move quickly into the classroom. The program seeks those teacher candidates who can successfully transfer content, ingenuity, commitment, life and work experience, and interpersonal skills into the classroom environment.
PACT is the result of a collaborative effort among College of the Mainland, Galveston College, and partnering Galveston County independent school districts, charter schools, and accredited private schools. PACT was approved May 2002 by the State Board of Educator Certification and is operated in compliance with federal legislation, “No Child Left Behind”. |
